Q: Help finding a job (in food service)!?
A: Katarina, your issue is not uncommon. Many people are looking for work these days and have no idea where to start. Let’s see if I can help provide some direction.
If you are looking for work in the Food Service industry, you are likely looking for hourly employment. A great place to find hourly employment is Snag-A-Job (www.snagajob.com). If you log on to their website, you can put in your zip code (no keywords) and see just how many jobs are available in your area. Once you have the results, you may then filter your search criteria to weed out the the jobs you are not interested in. For example, there are 754 jobs in my area on snag-a-job. When I click on Industry:Food/Restaurant, that list narrows down to 172. From there, you can change the distance you are willing to work from your address. I chose 5 miles. I now have 21 options to choose from.
If you are looking for Hospitality-Related Food Service, you may consider HCareers (www.hcareers.com). Following the same steps as above, I get 177 jobs, then finally 1 job that matches my search criteria.
In addition, you may also try clicking the “Careers” link on the websites of the popular hotels and casinos in your area (e.g. Hilton, Sheraton, Marriott, Hyatt) for opportunities.
After you have done those, if you are still looking for options, try indeed (www.indeed.com) or monster (www.monster.com) for a more general approach to your search.
